I have found over the years that close friends can be found in the unlikeliest of places. Photography has been amazing to me in many ways, nothing short of mind boggling when I think about it sometimes. I met Josh and Jess thanks to photography, and more importantly the love that photographers have for getting together.. talking about cameras and drinking pints of beer. It was on one of these gatherings that I met Josh.. an outwardly spoken giant with a heart of gold and heavy sarcastic undertone. He has hands down one of the warmest hearts for everyone around him. Jess is the perfect match both as a partner and a friend.. his best friends are her best friends and vica versa. If anyone is wondering why Rose and I go and visit Orange so many times a year, it is simply because we love seeing these two (and their cat family). So naturally I was over the moon when we were asked to head out to be part of their Orange Wedding.
When it came to their wedding day they were torn, they wanted me involved but they didnt want me taking photos. At the same time, they focused the day they wanted on having a really good time with fantastic food with their friends and family, so short of having just phones capturing the action I jumped in the ring to be both groomsman and photographer (it is possible, albeit a tad difficult at times). It was a casual affair with everyone chipping in to get things kicked off before the ceremony at the beautiful Orange Botanic Gardens. Everyone then settled in for a lunch reception at Botanic by Byng St (their food is to die for). The party kicked on all afternoon before we all moved over to the Union Bank Wine Bar in town for more drinks and food well into the evening.
I had a ball capturing this wedding (if you couldn’t tell) and it was the best gift I could have given Josh and Jess. Rose and I feel honoured to have such wonderful loving friends and we look forward to seeing their relationship and family grow over the years.
