Unlike many portrait/engagement shoots prior to the day, this is in fact at the exact spot the magic will happen. The idea was that the images would be printed large and as part of an elaborate scheme of surprise, alerting all the guests upon arrival at the location, the beautiful Everglades Gardens in Leura in the Blue Mountains.

But wait.. if it’s a surprise.. then how come I can blog about it? Well it was announced a little early.. which I have a feeling these kinds of events are a little hard to keep under wraps. Alas, I dont mind as I get to share this sooner than expected! These two have a lovely story together, and compliment each other so well. It shows through the way they look at each other, how they talk to each other and how they just are together.

Once again congrats to Chris & Joanne, I am glad you two have decided to tie the knot sooner than you had planned. See you both very soon.

Whilst doing some house keeping on the weekend I stumbled across this set.. and I thought.. these are too nice not to share. So here they are.. Peta & Paul.

These have a bit of a different look to my usual.. as I was using an older camera which is not currently profiled. These were individually edited and then applied with my own ‘Fuji Astia’ preset through Alien Skin Exposure 4.

The beauty of a place such as Brunswick Heads is the slow evolution and change, in the sense that I have been able to go back and document the place as it is, and in many ways it still is the way I remember it.. and will remember it forever. I enjoy the process of this because for many other places that have had a big part in my life, I don’t get this opportunity. The time is gone, the place has changed.. the opportunity missed. I guess that can be said for many occasions before I picked up a camera, or once I did.. the times I decided to leave it at home. This year I am not up there for Easter.. like I have been for many years of my life but I cant wait to get a few days free to make the journey up again soon. I think it will be a place I visit for my entire life.. and I am hoping to document it in a different way each time.. and so that people can later look back at how it was, maybe the way it still is.

 

With my move now complete, the blog will be flooded with content over the next couple of weeks. It feels great to share again. This post is a mix of digital + film for those with a keen eye. All shot on my Nikon d700/Yashicamat 124g and Mamiya RZ67.
